Braves fans excited as team brings back 2021 World Series winners Jorge Soler and Luke Jackson in surprise trade deadline deal

Image
Luke Jackson is also returning to Atlanta, while Tyler Matzek and minor leaguer Sabin Ceballos will join the Giants in the deal. The Atlanta Braves pulled off a trade deadline surprise Monday night, finalizing a deal to acquire former All-Star outfielder and World Series MVP Jorge Soler from the San Francisco Giants, sources confirmed to Yahoo Sports' Russell Dorsey. The Braves later confirmed the trade with the Giants, who will receive left-handed pitcher Tyler Matzek and minor-league infielder Sabin Ceballos in the swap. The Braves are also acquiring pitcher Luke Jackson, another former Brave, from San Francisco. Atlanta previously traded for Soler in a 2021 deadline deal with the Kansas City Royals. He started 55 regular-season games with the Braves that season, then helped lead them to a World Series championship. In the World Series, he hit three home runs and batted in three go-ahead runs as Atlanta beat the Houston Astros and Soler was named World Series MVP. Soler left Atla...

‘Presumed Innocent’: Who Is the Killer?

Image
In the nail-bitingly tense finale for Apple’s gripping courtroom thriller “Presumed Innocent,” audiences finally learned who killed lawyer Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve), the former lover of Jake Gyllenhaal’s character Rusty Sabich, who was charged and tried for the murder. In last week’s episode, Tommy Molto (Peter Sarsgaard), who relished the opportunity to prosecute his longtime rival, was ruled out as a suspect, as director Greg Yaitanes confirmed to TheWrap. Tommy came home to find someone had left a fireplace poker — possibly the one used to kill Carolyn — in his house, with an unsigned, hand-printed note that read, “Go f—k yourself.” Later, Rusty confronted Barbara in the garage, where she was obsessively riding the stationery bike. She had packed a bag… not to leave him now, but as a warning of what she would do if there’s a “next time.” He told her that he’s known since the first night that she killed Carolyn, and admitted that he was the one to stage the body so it resembl...

Everyone watching Rhaenyra and Mysaria kissing House of Dragon

Image
The fact that rhaenyra slapping a man and kissing a woman in the same episode is insane.  Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and her new closest confidant and righthand woman Mysaria a.k.a. The White Worm (Sonoya Mizuno) marked a turn in their relationship on this week’s episode of “House of the Dragon,” as the two shared a passionate kiss in the final moments of the installment. The kiss, however, is interrupted, causing Rhaenyra to take off on dragonback almost immediately to go find out who’s been spotted riding a wild dragon around Westeros — and whether they’re aligned with her and the Blacks or Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and the Greens. So viewers are left with many questions about the intimate moment, and what it means for the rest of Season 2. “Honestly, I think initially there was just such a desire to connect,” D’Arcy told Variety. “I think what you see initially is intimacy, and an intimacy that Rhaenyra shares so rarely. Even in some of her other romantic relationships, there’s a ...

Thanks for the memories Sheila Jackson Lee

Image
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was a fierce advocate for Houston and her constituents. No one worked harder for her community and if Houston needed something, she got it done. Democratic congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee dies aged 74, family says Jackson Lee, who was first elected to Congress almost 30 years ago, had said she was being treated for pancreatic cancer last month Jackson Lee, of Texas, announced last month she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was undergoing treatment. She was 74 and had also previously had breast cancer. “A fierce champion of the people, she was affectionately and simply known as ‘Congresswoman’ by her constituents in recognition of her near-ubiquitous presence and service to their daily lives for more than 30 years,” her family said in the statement. Bishop James Dixon, a longtime friend in Houston who visited Jackson Lee earlier this week, said he would remember her as a fighter. “She was just a rare, rare jewel of a person who relentl...

The Acolyte Finale

Image
The Acolyte's finale features a wide collection of Easter eggs and major references to the greater Star Wars canon. Culminating the major Jedi mystery that's been surrounding a pair of twins extremely powerful in the Force, The Acolyte's first (and hopefully not only) season has come to an epic end. However, the final episode of the later Star Wars show had plenty of surprises, right up to its very last shot. The Acolyte's finale features a final showdown between Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) and Qimir (Manny Jacinto). The last episode also features a reunion between Mae and Osha Aniseya, alongside major decisions they each make before the Jedi Order arrives in search of the one responsible for killing so many Jedi over the course of the Star Wars show. The final shot of The Acolyte's finale sees Vernestra meeting with none other than Grandmaster Yoda. This is most likely who she was trying to connect with earlier in the episode. To that end, this suggests that Yoda wi...
